How does your life improve, devoting yourself to a set of rules & rituals?

If you could give me some clear examples, I would be very appreciative.

The common problem with relativism is that it degrades.
Whilst you may think it is for the better, doing an evil action for good outcome is likely to have further reaching consequences on the sanctity of the rule, your stability, and cause you to more and more view people as instruments to be manipulated for a possible good outcome.

I.E. a man has to kill two men to save three men.
This encourages others in society to play more with human life (even if with good intention), harrow the person for a lifetime over whether one man deserved to live more than the other or if there was something else he could’ve done.
No government negotiates with terrorists, because if they did they’d be criminals asking for ransoms left right and centre.

One may find such distrust in human nature insulting, patronising, but these rules came from human nature, and laws were not made by erratic emotion. Any man or emperor given power corrupts and withers and turns. Rules by definition cannot do this.
